The
major task of the risk and claims management division is to use its
knowledge of marine insurance policy wording, and experience in marine
casualties and claims, to give the right advice to the client at all the
stages of casualty, repairs and claim processing to ensure the issuance of a
correct adjustment.
Adjusting the Claim on the
Basis of the Policy
Cover and Issuing the
Adjustment
When the
required documents are submitted, they are carefully studied, as are the
terms, conditions and clauses of the insurance policy. The adjustment is
prepared such as to include the major documents, survey reports, and
endorsed accounts for repairs and spare parts. Explanatory notes are
included on the technical issues and reasons are given for the allowances
made.
The
draft adjustment is then carefully explained and reviewed with the assured
and the insurer, before being finalized, and used for claims settlement by
the parties concerned.
